You will need:
  • 6 bay leaves
  • 2.5 dl water
  • 6 tablespoons sugar (best to use brown Muscovado sugar)
  • 1 lemon
Boil water in a pot. Add the bay leaf and cook covered for 6 - 10 minutes.
Remove the bay leaves, pour in a pot in which you will prepare the syrup, stir in the sugar and squeeze a whole lemon. Mix well and wait until all the sugar has melted. Take a teaspoon several times a day. The first day you can take a teaspoon whenever the intense bouts of coughing occur.

Syrup can be stored in the refrigerator for several days.
It can be taken cold or warm.

If you have other symptoms of a cold, it is useful to take an additional slice of lemon, peel it, and chew the contents of the rest of the lemon. It is very effective in fighting dry cough.
